20 Jun Top 3 New Race Cars
What are the best race cars in 2012? We have a few choice selections for you to consider…
2012 SAAB 9-3 TTA
Although the future of SAAb is uncertain since the company filed for bankruptcy in December 2011, this racecar is scheduled to race in the Swedish Racing Elite League, starting in May 2012.
The 9-3 is also offered as a street car, but the racecar designers, Flash Engineering and Team Tido, have high hopes of beating out the local and traditional rival of SAAb – Volvo in the Racing Elite League in Sweden.
With a V-6 engine and hybrid system, and 420 HP, the car has a 6 speed transmission. The rear diffuser and bigger rear spoiler helps to distinguish it from the street model.
2012 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3
Another car available as a street car is the Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3. The street car was modified into a racing car by changing the chassis to make the car stiffer and easier to handle on the track. It has a shorter wheelbase and a 6-speed transmission. With a 600 hp V12 engine, it is sure to give the competition a run for their money.
2012 BMW M3 DTM
With a 480 hp V-8 engine, the 2012 BMW M3 DTM can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds. It can reach top speeds of 186 mph. Built for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM), a touring car road race in Germany; the car is restricted to regulations by DTM, much like Nascar has restrictions.
Top race cars entered in this race are of high technological advances because the size of the engine is restricted to V-8s, 4 litres. It is the engineer’s challenge to get the most horsepower out of that size engine. This car won first in show at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
Honorable Mention for 2013
2013 SRT Viper
In 2010, Dodge relinquished the making of the Viper. Still under the Chrysler Corporation, SRT took over the development of a new Viper, street legal and developed for racing as well. The new SRT has the Viper V-10 engine, but the horsepower has been bumped up to 640 and the torque at 600 foot pounds rivals that of Ferrari and Lamborghini. In fact, torque on the 2012 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 is 516, and on the 2012 BMW M3 DTM 500. The SRT goes from 0 to 60 mph in around 3.5 seconds.
All of these race cars can greatly benefit from Auto SuperShield. A racecar is a tremendous investment. The 2012 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 will cost in excess of $1,300,000. Part of the allure of a racecar is its appearance and sleek lines. Installation of Auto SuperShield’s paint protection film will not only protect the paint, but will bring out the shine and make the car look new, exciting and built for speed. The best race cars in 2012? The ultimate decision rests with you!
