June 20, 2020

While the best concept cars of 2014 may not be making it into the dealerships any time soon, it is still fascinating to see what is out there right now. Virtually every major car brand experiments with concept cars that feature hypothetical powertrains and daring designs. View More>After you've seen them at a local auto show, it's a bit of a letdown when nothing happens afterward. This doesn't stop car enthusiasts from dreaming about what may lie ahead. The following list includes just a few of the best concept cars of 2014.2014 Audi Quattro ConceptAudi was inspired to create this car in honor of the 30th anniversary of their Quattro technology. It is likely that the Audio R5, VW Bluesport Coupe and Convertible, and Porsche 550, all with Porsche-engineered platforms, will be the versions of the concept that make it into the dealerships.View More>All three of these vehicles will be sports cars with staggering low weights and impressive fuel economy, unlike anything on the market today. Interestingly, in recent months, Audi unrolled a Sports Quattro that is quite different from the original Quattro Concept with a long, heavy design. 2014 Audi Quattro Concept[/caption]VW has a strategy of releasing multiple models on one platform. The VW Bulli, which is remarkably similar to a minivan, fits right into this strategy. It gets its name from the T1 VW bus and is supposed to be a sequel to this prior show van. With six seats and four hinged doors, the Bulli has adopted the base of the Golf. Most likely it would be available as a hybrid diesel or an electric model. View More>The Bulli has a distinct small, squat shape much like 1950s and 1960s Microbus models. Some people are hoping that VW retains the fold-down rear seat that has been unveiled at auto shows to make in-car camping a cinch on long road trips. The Bulli has the ideal combination of retro (two-tone color treatment), current (LED lighting elements), and future (turbine-fin treatment).View More>Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) ConceptIn early 2014, a brand new classic Mini Cooper model was unrolled, which means that a high-end John Cooper Works model is in the works. As such, it is not surprising that Mini debuted a new JCW Concept at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. The JCW Concept appears to be a performance machine with a new rear diffuser, a rear apron, and additional side skirts. The workings under the hood have yet to be revealed, but it is anticipated that the car will have a small turbo four-cylinder that can top 210 hp and reach a speed of 60 mph in less than six seconds.View More>Auto Supershield
