Performance Upgrades for your Sports Car

June 20, 2020

When you decide to purchase a sports car, the key factors that appeal to people are the look of the car and the performance. While performance can be an important thing, often times what gets the most attention is the overall look of the vehicle.[caption id="attachment_1545" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Ferrari Enzo SuperCharged"]

For many, however, purchasing a car that looks good but that lacks performance is not typically a problem thanks to the many ways you can do a performance upgrade for your sports car.If you’re looking for a performance upgrade for your sports car, there are a few approaches that you might want to take. The first approach is to start small. What I would do is look at things such as the air intake manifold, the exhaust system or even something such as the ECU or engine control unit chip as a way to improve the performance of the sports car. These upgrades not only boost the power of your vehicle, but in many ways they can actually improve the efficiency and the gas mileage of your vehicle as well. Now, if you choose air intake units and exhaust systems that significantly increase the horsepower, you will likely notice a decrease in gas mileage. Smaller changes, however, tend to improve power but also improve efficiency. If I was looking for a major improvement in the performance of my sports car, some considerations might be a turbocharger or a supercharger for the motor to significantly increase the horsepower of the engine. It is important, however, to remember that when you begin to make significant changes to the horsepower of the vehicle, you may need to consider other aspects of the vehicle’s power train as well. For example, an increase in horsepower may not necessarily do a lot for increasing the speed of the vehicle unless there is a change in the transmission. Different gear ratios can help you to maximize the use of the new found horsepower. The problem that this presents is that adding on a turbocharger or a supercharger to an existing engine is expensive enough. When you consider having to change out the vehicle’s transmission for something that is built for better performance, then you’re looking at a very expensive upgrade.[caption id="attachment_1547" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Schmidt Revolution 625HP Supercharged Chevrolet Camaro SS"]

Simple upgrades, as well as upgrades in the vehicle’s tires, braking system and more performance minded spark plugs and fluids can make a significant difference in your vehicle’s performance without spending a small fortune. You can spend as much as you like, but if you don’t have a large budget, you can still get better performance out of your sports car.The combination of performance with great looks (which can be protected with services that Auto SuperShield offers) and you’ll have the sports car of your dreams.
