Rare Ferrari 599 SA Aperta – Auto SuperShield Car of the Week

Today we had the opportunity to work on a very rare and exciting Ferrari, the brand new 599 SA Aperta. With only 80 built for the world and 3 for Canada this is a very special car indeed. With 670HP, this is definitely the ultimate convertible!

Our project is to cover the Ferrari completely with paint protection film.  The only thing not covered by the film is the rear tail lights.  Even the windshield is protected with a safety film to prevent pitting of the glass.  We are using the new “self healing” paint protection film created by Xpel Technologies.  If anything scratches this film, not only will it protect the beautiful painted finish, it will actually self heal the scratch within a few hours of being in the sun.   The clarity and gloss of this film is so good that it is truly invisible after installed on the car.

This particular Ferrari 599 owner chose to have some special upgrades including: red carbon fiber throughout the car, a candy apple red paint color from Alpha Romeo, the engine cover was autographed by the Ferrari Chief and builders at the factory, optional roof was also in red carbon fiber, Ferrari factory sent carbon shields for the car.  Instead of having red piping in the seat which is the norm, this Aperta has red in-lays throughout the interior.  The brake caliber color was painted to match the car.

Rare Ferrari 599 SA Aperta – Auto SuperShield Car of the Week

Ferrari says that the SA Aperta was built to celebrate the 80th birthday of the company’s long-time partner, the design firm Pininfarina. We suspect it’s also been developed because Ferrari flat-out said in the past that it wanted to sell a convertible version of the 599.

Auto Supershield, 3m paint protection

Auto SuperShield is at Daytona International Speedway attending the 50th anniversary Rolex 24 race.   Our car is the Orbit Race Team Porsche Cup Car sponsored by Global Motorsports Group (GMG), car #32 in the GT cup car class.  The professional driver’s for Auto SuperShield & Orbit Racing are:

Nicolas Armindo, Bret Curtis, Shane Lewis & James Sofronas

The race opened with a clean start on the racetrack and a throng of excited race fans packing the infield Saturday.  The festive sun-soaked event, which took more than a year of planning, lived up to hype as Grand-Am Rolex Series sports cars roared to life and took to the 3.56 mile road course right on schedule.

In the 2011 Rolex 24, there were 48 cars.  This weekend 61 cars are competing, including 47 Grand Touring sedans.

This is by far the biggest field for this race seen in years.  The infield is completely sold out.  The fans are super excited and super stoked!  The weather is great today.  A high of 69 and mostly sunny skies.  The race concludes on Sunday at 3:30 pm.

People are everywhere today.  Race fans line the road course.  The Fan Deck in the Fanzine is five deep, with parents holding young children on their shoulders.  Thousands watched the green flag lap from the main grandstand.

All the car companies are represented too, with large tents and exhibits where fans collect posters, see engines, pose behind cardboard cutouts of Grand-Am and NASCAR drivers and look at the latest models.

At the Porsche and Mazda displays, fans were allowed to sit inside a car.  Nearby, a slot car race tournament was taking place all afternoon Saturday.

Stay tuned for more race updates throughout today and tomorrow!  Go #32!!!

2012 Lamborghini Aventador – All Wrapped Up and Ready for the Track!

2012 Lamborghini Aventador receives a complete paint protection film wrap at Auto SuperShield. We wrapped every painted surface of this beautiful Lamborghini Aventador with Xpel Technologies new Ultimate Paint Protection film. This Ultimate paint protection film has self healing properties, meaning if the film is scratched, it will self heal itself just by sitting the sun for a few hours. The self healing process can be accelerated by pouring warm water on the surface of the film.

Don’t be concerned with our installers wielding Olfa blades. They are simply scoring the top coat of the film only to trim the areas. The blade never comes in contact with the actual paint. It does take skill to do this, so don’t try it at home.

This Aventador is ready for the track and protected against all road debris damaging the beautiful white finish!

Thanks for watching!
